Berry Smoothie | Add a Pinch

I’m not one to really want roses and chocolates for Valentine’s Day. I think it must be because I’m never one to really want to follow along with the crowd. Don’t get me wrong, I truly love Valentine’s Day, roses, and you know how much I ah-dore chocolate, so that’s not the issue at all. It’s just that I’d much rather have something different.

Something more original.

Something more romantic.

I’d rather have breakfast in bed with a bud vase of tulips, or dahlias, or even daisies. Maybe a pretty plant for my bedside would be nice. That way I’d be reminded every morning and every night of the thoughtfulness of the gift.

I’d rather have a playlist made for me of all our favorite songs. Songs that were playing in the jukebox at the restaurant where we had supper on our first date. Songs from our courtship when we made a trip to the beach with our families. Songs from our wedding that make me smile and cry when I hear them. Songs from when our son was a little boy, you know the fun versions of nursery rhymes, hymns, and even the old standards of You are My Sunshine would be nice.

I’d rather take a long walk together or even a long drive to no where in particular and not be in a hurry to get there or back.

I’d rather swing on our front porch, holding hands as we gently rock back and forth in the breeze.

I’d rather have groceries bought for me and put away in all the right places.

Smoothie

So this year instead of giving my sweeties the store bought cards or presents with chocolate overload, I think I’ll make them each a meal full of nothing but their favorites.

And I’ll pray for a year full of Valentine’s Days so I remember to always be as tender with them as I should.

  1. Love your sweet post and vibrant smoothie!

I feel like every day’s been Valentine’s around here; Danny’s taking such good care of me as my pregnancy gets tougher. It’s definitely about the everyday actions and not the flowers and chocolates!
